About Coach

I was not an athletic child growing up, but I impulsively decided to join the middle school cross country team when I was 12 and instantly fell in love with running. However, I was consistently back of the pack and frequently injured. Later in life, my education in Physical Therapy taught me the importance of variety and strength training for health and longevity in life and in sport. Now I’m the fastest and strongest I’ve ever been!

Turning Point

I was a physical therapy student working as an aide in an outpatient clinic when the PT I was working with told me about CrossFit and said “This is how I work out. You should check it out, I think you’d really like it!” At that point, I was occasionally running and halfheartedly doing a few weight machines a couple times a week in my university's gym. I looked at the website for a local CrossFit gym and was immediately intimidated by the weights and movements. Like many people, I didn’t realize that CrossFit is infinitely modifiable and can be made appropriate for anyone. It took another 3 years of creeping CrossFit gyms online and on social media before I finally bit the bullet and signed up for a Fundamentals class at the gym closest to my house. That was in 2012, and I’ve never looked back!

Motivation & Passion

As a CrossFit athlete, I am motivated to continue working hard in the gym for many reasons: I love how I feel after a good workout; the community environment is unmatched; and I want to prove that I can continue improving and getting stronger as I age. I love the example I am setting for my kids, and that they’ll ask to come to the gym and work out with me or will get dumbbells out on their own at home and start bench pressing and doing deadlifts. As a coach, I am passionate about showing that CrossFit is for anyone, and that everyone should feel comfortable walking into the gym (without 3 years of internet stalking first)! As a physical therapist working in a hospital setting, I’ve seen the sickest of the sick and I know how important it is to build a base of fitness and wellness as prevention against disease and deconditioning. I want to help our members build that defense against illness and become the strongest version of themselves possible!
