Each month we highlight a different CFR member using our “Athlete Spotlight,” where we will ask a series of “get to know you” questions. This will help introduce you to the members of our community that you have yet to meet, OR If you have met them, teach you a little more about them! You might just find out something new or something you have in common!
July’s “Athlete Spotlight” is a founding member here at CrossFit Recreate as well as a consistent contributing member to the community. We would like to introduce you to….
Tell us a little about yourself (family, job, etc):
“I am the wife of 32 years to Jeff, mother to 4 adult daughters, and a retired dental hygienist”
What made you decide to try CrossFit and why CrossFit Recreate?
“I decided to try CrossFit 5 years ago at another box because I kept reading/hearing about how it was such a well rounded workout that was founded in the concept of functional fitness. I switched to CrossFit Recreate shortly after they opened mainly because it would cut my “commute” to less than half the time. I stayed because I found such a close knit community of great people and much more individualized coaching/programming!”
Go to class time?
What is your favorite WOD/movement and your least favorite WOD/movement?
“Favorite: Power/Squat Cleans, running, rowing, pistols, T2B/T2R, HSPU
Least Favorite: Box jumps;), Echo bike”
What have been your biggest takeaways from CrossFit?
“I am capable of doing MUCH more than I think!”
Proudest CrossFit accomplishment(s)?
“Recently pistols, but overall, gymnastic skills that I had never thought I could achieve”
What are your fitness goals for this year?
Keep moving, strive to improve my strength and overall fitness, and stay injury free.
We’d like to thank Marcie for taking the time to answer our questions and being a committed member of the CrossFit Recreate community! You’ve made strides over the past 3 years with us and you should be very proud! A true role model of health and fitness for your peers.
